The South Dakota Off Highway Vehicle Coalition is a recreational organization that advocates and promotes the responsible use and conservation of our public lands and natural resources. SDOHVC represents off highway enthusiasts, mountain bikers, ATVs, equestrian riders, 4x4s, snowmobiles, motorcyclists, hunters and other users. As a recognized, statewide coalition of recreation enthusiasts and related businesses, SDOHVC works in cooperation with land managers, legislators, educators and the public to ensure a positive future for responsible off highway recreation.

Comment period extended one week on travel management plan

The comment period for a proposed plan to revise travel management on the Nebraska National Forests and Grasslands, including the Buffalo Gap National Grassland in South Dakota, has been extended to Monday, Nov. 16.

The plan would allow motorized access to national forests and grasslands only on a designated road and trail system, in compliance with a federal rule regarding off-highway vehicles and other motor vehicle use that was published in November 2005.

Ranger joins Hell Canyon District

A South Dakota native has returned home to serve as the Hell Canyon District Ranger for the Black Hills National Forest.

Lynn Kolund, who graduated from Chamberlain High School in 1970, began his duties at the Hell Canyon District office in Custer in March.

Forest Service officials order emergency closure near Piedmont, Stagebarn Canyon 'Sensitive area' damaged by off-road vehicles, forest official says.

About 327 acres of the Black Hills National Forest near Piedmont have been closed to cross-country motorized travel because of damage caused by off-highway vehicles, forest supervisor Craig Bobzien announced Wednesday.

The Forest Service (FS) has released their draft plans for motorized travel management on the Black Hills National Forest. Comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) are coming due and this is the last chance to let the FS know about any issues you have with the new plan.

Forest service motorized travel management meeting in Edgemont

A meeting to familiarize the public with new draft plans for motorized travel management on the Black Hills National Forest will be held at the Senior Center in Edgemont from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 15.

Fall River County Commissioners requested the meeting to help inform local residents about the plans, according to a Forest Service news release. Those who attend will hear a presentation and join Forest Service personnel who will explain the proposals in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement.
